Plans are nice. Plans are fun and make life easier, they can be motivating or accusatory, they can help you get exactly the groceries you need, or remember those important things you need to accomplish.
But plans are also made to be broken, changed, re-arranged, and sometimes, just looked at :)
That is kinda how my plan for the year has gone so far. I made it with the intention of having it as a sort of backup when i was feeling un-productive, and mostly it started as a desire to have a regular date night with my hubby. So i am not feeling critical of myself thankfully, yet it does kind of mock me.
As you know, January's list got some things shoved into February to complete. Well, now they are into March! As February had a few twists i was not anticipating!
First twist was our sudden trip to Idaho! It was lovely and wonderful but unplanned and we decided we would go the day before we needed to leave. So not only did i loose a whole week i would have been home to check things off my list, i also lost a couple days on either end to packing, cleaning, etc. So we didn't have time for our funny YouTube date night or the peanut butter chocolate popcorn, but luckily we can do it another time :) I have noticed also that i have done miserably on our Giving plans, as i have completed neither of my two ideas over the last two months. I feel like this is important to be intentional about giving and about teaching our daughter to give, so i guess i need to work on that a bit harder :)
I have managed to do a few things though, and some out of order. Our Valentines Day feast was wonderful and turned out amazing! The Chubby Hubby bars where quite a hit as was the oven baked meatball sandwiches. Let me just say that making her homemade meatballs and crockpot marinara is totally worth the extra work because the finished sandwhich was to DIE for! These will be making it back onto our regular menu soon! We also did the Walk a Little Slower Daddy idea for a V-day present from our daughter and it turned out adorable and was super cute. Plus she thought painting the bottoms of her feet was really funny and tickled :) Made for a fun afternoon!
I still have not tried my hand at homemade bread, as we are still trying to use up the bread we bought last month. We still have three loaves so i am thinking this project will be pushed yet again. Plus i have read some things saying that whole wheat pastry flour is NOT good for making bread, which is what i have. So we will see how it all shakes out!
I have successfully saved for our Essential Oils medicine kit, and i can't hardly wait for the next two months to go by so we can get it and start trying natural remedies for pain and sickness! Our daughter came down with a horrible cold and ear infection right before our Idaho trip and it drove me nuts that i had to just medicate her as i did not have natural remedies available! ARRGGH! So thankful for medicine when it is needed, but i can't wait to have some other options available.
I did do the emergency contact sticker for our daughters car seat and this was also super easy and fast, and now i feel better knowing that she will get immediate help if we are ever in an accident and i am unconscious.
I did not manage either of the crafts, which i still think i should do, especially the crayon hearts. But i just ran out of time and i think it will take a bit of planning as you have to grate the crayons. Maybe this week?
Nor did i complete the 25 docs you need before you die. I still think it is a great idea, but i never got a three ring binder and page protectors, and i really wanted to get a will done, and we just didn't have the cash for it this month. Maybe it can go on next years list, if i make one again :)
However, i did skip ahead and made Electric screen cleaner, which is on the March list, and i am preparing to clean and grease my Kitchenaid mixer since i now have it thanks to our Idaho trip and don't have to wait till October!
All in all, i am liking having a list. I like to have something to do if i want it, and i like that if forces me to plan some things that i just wouldn't without a list (such as date nights, giving and crafts for Gwen) It has been fun so far and i am looking forward to making a list for next year and continuing the tradition!
